We are incredibly impressed with this Big Island MP-SLS traditional pineapple series solid mango soprano ukulele.
Mango is fast becoming the new koa in the ukulele world. People in search of bright, bouncy but refined and rounded sounds will not be disappointed with the MP-SLS. The mango bodied sister of the KP-SLS this sweet pineapple soprano offers a nod to its sibling by way of a koa soundhole rosette, but truly stands apart with its distinctive mango sound.
This latest offering of pineapple ukes from Big Island offers a fuller mid register to the soprano body, filling out the divide between the tops and bottoms for a richer and more rounded tone. Although a soprano body though, the MP-SLS features a concert scale length neck, giving you more room for manoeuvre on the fretboard but retaining that soprano charm. More though still has been put into the playability of this sweet soprano, with an ultra smooth satin finish to the neck, helping you to avoid that sticking sensation often found with glossed necks.
The gloss finish to the body certainly helps to harden the wood, and help to increase the note definition and the volume. It comes with quality fixtures and fittings such as a bone nut and saddle, Indian rosewood fretboard and bridge, and koa wood buttons on the machineheads. It really is a high quality uke for both build and sound.
