Tara Maysey

TARAS WORKSHOP
Singing The Strings a fun and relaxed workshop for players who want to get more in tune—literally!—with their ukulele and their voice. We’ll explore how to use the ukulele to find ways to ear train, warm up our vocals and to sing harmony. Even if you think you can’t sing!
4Stringboy (Sammy Turton)
Sammy is making his 4th appearance at Southern Ukulele Store this September. Considered by the SUS crew to be an extension of our team; Sammy is one of the most present and consistent online Ukulele educators. Originally from the UK but banished to Central Europe some years ago - Sammy is the front runner in harmonic Ukulele playing. Sammy appears courtesy of Flight Ukuleles who are graciously covering the cost of his Flights (ironic). We will have special Flight offers available on the day.
SAMMYS WORKSHOP
LEGO chords
How to build your own chords - In this workshop Sammy will teach you how to play many new exciting variations of chords that will add some wonder to your sound, without learning a million new chord shapes. Sammy will break down the theory behind this so that you can apply it to whatever chord or song you're playing - no previous theory knowledge needed!
ANARCHY IN THE UKULELE
Anarchy are the UK's largest Ukulele ensemble. Based near Bury St Edmunds they have stormed the Ukulele world in recent years with festival appearances all over Europe.
ANARCHY WORKSHOP
Anarchy In The Ukulele: Reinventing Classics with a Twist
Ever wondered how to take a classic song and make it your own? Join the Anarchy In The Ukulele band for an inspiring and hands-on workshop that will change the way you approach your instrument and your favourite tunes.
In this session, the band will reveal their creative process for transforming well-known songs into totally fresh, ukulele-driven arrangements. You’ll learn how to:
- Choose the Right Song: Discover what makes a song ripe for reinvention, and how to pick material that will shine in a ukulele ensemble.
- Re-Harmonise and Re-Imagine: Explore techniques for changing up the chords and harmonies to give a familiar melody a brand new flavour.
- Create a Unique Style: Experiment with rhythm, tempo, and genre to put your own stamp on the tune - whether that’s turning a pop hit into a reggae groove or giving a ballad a punk edge.
- Arrange for Ukulele Band: Learn how to break down the song into parts, assign roles, and build a layered, dynamic arrangement that makes the most of your group’s talents.
Throughout the workshop, the band will demonstrate each step, sharing tips, tricks, and plenty of musical inspiration. By the end, you’ll not only understand the art of musical transformation - you’ll know the song inside out.
Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned player, this is your invitation to break the mould, embrace your creativity, and experience the joy of collaborative music-making.
So there you have it - 3 Acts, 3 Workshops spanning approximately 7 hours. Bring your ukulele, we are limited on music stands so please do bring your own if you have one.
