Millar Custom SW-T All Solid Sitka Spruce and Claro Walnut Tenor Ukulele (38mm Nut)

There is a funny story here... This custom tenor ukulele shouldn't exist but we are so glad it does. We have been working with Millar on a pair of custom shop ukuleles to Phil and Gunsy from the shops own specs. The idea being that the regular customers both of these guys have at the shop could see what favourite wood/style combinations were available and be inspired!

Unfortunately, things got a bit jumbled up this first time round and the Phil and Guns models 'cross pollinated' with Matt at World of Ukes own custom models. The result is a pair of ukuleles with some really wonderful specifications, tonewoods and even wider nut widths but at a slightly more affordable price and are true one offs themselves!

This first model is the SW-T - A solid itka spruce top with solid claro walnut back and sides. It has Millar's first ever 38mm nut width with a slightly chunkier neck profile to match, a slotted headstock, a satin finish (creating a more open sound) and a rosewood fingerboard and bridge.

It sounds full and complex like all good Millar ukes should and would lend itself very well to a performer or someone wanting good single note balance for fingerpicking. The purple padauk binding is also a lovely touch giving the spruce and walnut some aesthetically pleasing separation.

It wasn't quite what we were expecting but we are by no means disappointed! We weren't that keen on the factory strings so have restrung this ukulele with Ukes With Alex low G tenor strings. Finally, please note that there is a very small ding in the top that is almost impossible to see and impossible to accurately photograph. It's about 1mm wide and runs in the grain... The instrument arrived from Millar this way and it will in no way detract away from the look or sound of the ukulele.
