Snail S60B All Solid Flamed Acacia Baritone Ukulele with Gigbag END OF LINE
In 2026, Snail will be revamping their entire catalogue of Ukuleles with many models switching to wider nuts and different aesthetic detail. With that in mind, Southern Ukulele Store has taken a huge amount of warehouse clearance stock and can offer some of the most iconic ukuleles of the last 20 years at the best prices ever!
The S60B was Snail’s first foray into the world baritone ukuleles, and with some stiff competition at the time they had a lot to live up to, they were competing with the likes of Flight, Ana’Ole and Millar just to name a few. The S60B did a fantastic job of shaking things up at its release however and set the Snail baritone train in motion.
Fast forward to the present day and the Snail S60B continues to hold its own in its price bracket, with very few other manufacturers competing on the striking aesthetic this baritone has on show. The oversized abalone rosette has become very recognisable feature all down to the popularity of the S60B, and that flamed acacia body is so often mistaken for its island cousin Koa that you really have to work hard justifying the price jump to “the real thing”.
It’s not all fancy fronting with the S60B though. Solid acacia top, back and sides makes for a very delicate, complex sound with a wide dynamic range, so quiet fingerpickers will appreciate the clarity and sustain you can achieve with a very light touch, whilst heavy strummers will appreciate the strong, un-muddied chords with great note definition.
These are strung GCEA when they arrive to us from the factory so we replace the strings with Ukes With Alex Low D DGBE strings. We believe these slightly higher tension nylon strings to get the best out of the Snails Baritone scale length. The larger baritone body sits somewhere perfectly between a jumbo tenor and the other baritones out there with a sweet voicing that mirrors the traditional island sound of a Kamaka and manages to avoid the trap that many baritone ukuleles fall into by not sounding muffled in the slightest - just deep, rich and wonderful.
The addition of a bevelled ebony arm rest at the top of the bottom bout is welcome meaning that you won't cut off circulation to your hands when you clasp the uke to your body whilst playing it. And you are going to want to pick it up and play it a lot! The slotted headstock, sound-hole rosette and the figuring in the wood all add up to make this a very, very attractive instrument indeed!
