Stunning visually, equally stunning on the ears, this model boasts a solid cedar top and solid Macassar ebony back and sides, with a nice gloss finish.
The cedar top has a very complex sound, resonant with harmonics, and has a very warm and clear tone across the whole frequency range. The Ebony on the back and sides helps to focus the attack of each note, and give each note a long lasting sustain. Strummed, you hear all the notes in your chords with great clarity, and picked you enjoy a shimmering attack to each note with bags of sustain, all the way up the neck. It also has a slight radius on the fretboard, which is almost imperceptible, but helps to make playing it feel very easy indeed.

I think that this model with the normal paddle headstock sounds a little better than its ETSH brother with the slotted headstock. The extra weight of the headstock makes a big difference to the sustain. This model is going to be updated later this year, with Abalone and other rare and CITES unfriendly adornments being replaced. This is the end of line - still A grade stock - but at a silly, silly price! Normal retail price is $1650 or around £1250.
