This is a big one folks, our second Flight Ukulele Takeover. We are taking over the upper studio at Absolute Music for a whopping 4 workshop and 4 performance day with some of the biggest names!

We have 4stringboy (England via Denmark), Julia Traser (Italy via Brighton), Ukulele Saz (Scotland) and Tyler Austenfeld (UK via Columbia) all in the same place at the same time... 4 Ukulele Workshops and 4 Performances between 11:30am and approximately 6pm.

4stringboy
The one and only 4stringboy. Some say his mum named him after the Flight uke of the same name, I guess we will never really know? Sammy is originally from England but resides in Denmark. Having burst onto the Ukulele world scene in 2020 with his harmonic techniques; he has since travelled across the world teaching workshops on that very technique. Sammy will be teaching something slightly different on this visit with a workshop that focuses on Fingerastyle Ukulele and Patterns and Melodic Improvisation within that. Suitable for confident beginners and intermediate players.

We really couldn't have gotten Sammy here without the support of Flight who knew how much we wanted to bring together the most popular Flight artists in one place for a one day event.

Julia Traser
Julia is a favourite of ours here at SUS. A beautiful, bubbly soul with a unique way of getting you to smile as you learn; Julias workshop in 2025 was the one we received the most positive feedback from and requests to get her back at SUS ASAP. Well, we did! She will be performing and teaching another workshop on singing and playing in conjunction and learning how to harmonize a melody and link it into how you play chords and intervals.

An enthusiastic beginner/intermediate player will love this although you will probably have to do a bit of singing in a large group at some point in this workshop - please don't be shy.

Ukulele Saz
The artist we have wanted at Southern Ukulele Store for 4 years now. An award winning Ukulele player and teacher, Saz is fast becoming one of the faces of Flight Ukuleles and has fans as far flung as Hawaii and Japan citing her online teaching as being the reason they play ukulele. Saz is just as excited to take some of these workshops as you are and I'm sure will be on hand to give you the most from the day.

Saz is going to teach a workshop on 'the Learning Triangle'. Her method on how to break a song down to its basic fundamentals and reassemble it in a new way. Suitable for everyone.

Tenthumbspro (Tyler)
Tyler is the most relaxed teacher in the world... a man with a knack for calming everyone down and getting the most out of them. Tyler first came into our lives by casually and confidentally walking into the Ukulele Festival of Great Britain and silently setting up our stand with us... he then stood and sold Ukuleles for free for 10 hours with a smile on his face and song in his heart.

Tyler will be teaching a workshop on Ear training, timing and counting music. The bulk of the workshop will be based around strumming but will use the background and history of music to give context where needed. We are really excited for this!

Please note this is the first workshop we have done on-site in the upstairs studio which is not wheelchair accessible. Please call Alex on 01202 430820 to talk through the details and see if we can accomodate your needs. Sadly our original venue for this event has fallen through so we have to make the best with what we have at our disposal on the date all artists have already booked.

Regular attendees of our workshops, please make note of the earlier 11:30am start time. This is to give enough time and space for regular breaks and to fit in the extra workshop. Although we advertise the event as ending around 6pm, it may end slightly later if we overrun.

On the day, our on site coffee van will be open but we recommend bringing a packed lunch to eat in the common-area or visiting the range Cafe 2 minutes away if you need an extended break.

Please bring your own Ukulele and if you have a music stand we'd be grateful as we are always 2-3 short! Finally, I desperately wanted to keep the ticket price at £40 but the increased cost of travel and heavyweight calibre of the artists featured has meant this event will have to be £5 more than usual. You do not need a printed ticket, we do a head count on the day.

Event takes place at;
