Kala KA-AMNG-TXL All Solid Mango XL Tenor Ukulele w/pod case

Akin to the already solidified Kala KA-AMHG-ST solid mahogany XL tenor, with its slightly larger body (about 10% larger) this latest offering built with all solid Mango is something cooked up by Alex and the team at Kala to add some variety into the mix.

The solid mango does what it does best with the KA-WF-AMNG-TXL, sounding tenor ukulele, diverging from the warmth of mahogany to a sweeter and more balanced timbre. It's funny how things go full circle as the original baritone ukuleles made by Favilla in the 1950s were a similar size and shape, now the same kind of design is making a new generation of players fall in love with the uke.

The extra tension the added inch gives the strings also offers something different to the sound... higher tension like this is a good thing for most players who finger pick as the notes seemingly ring on for days.

Finally, this ukulele comes strung low G GCEA and we noticed the machine heads are a bit stiff with the added tension but not in a way that should be of any concern to the end user... If you want a different sound, why not try Ukes With Alex high D dGBE baritone strings on this ukulele.
