Details

The Flight comet electro acoustic tenor ukulele is another brave step in the right direction for Flight. Never content with standing still, Flight have been listening to the popularity of the Fireball and A10 series of ukuleles and worked to combine these two models in the most unique of ways.

You wouldn't conventionally pair maple and mango as tonewoods because the two woods are both unpredictable and striking in looks, but rarely look similar in shade or quirkiness... Although both make great 'back and sides' woods paired with a soft wood like cedar or spruce, they are just as good when used for top woods.

Mango is dark and luxurious with a good amount of Island charm and personality. Maple is lighter and brighter with great separation. The result is a sweet sound without the slightly wooly nature of something like the Fireball.

Flight have been very clever giving this uke the brightness of a maple top, stained either blue or green and paired with mango. The best of both worlds in many ways and the stained top does a great job of making them look right together! We simply weren't prepared for how beautifully the maple top nullifies the honky nature of the Fireball's mango top... It calms everything down and smooths it out making for a very sensitive and articulate ukulele.
