This all solid mango iteration highlights the very best of this ultra popular tone-wood, with a clean and clear sweetness that stands a step above those mid-range models, aligning with the more premium features offered by these super special high end Kala's. The ebony binding is beautifully accented with red purfling, which is reflected in the elegant mango vine headstock inlay and logo, a particularly classy feature.

The finish reminds me of the stained mango of the SPTMG from 'Oli, with the high gloss finish accentuating the stiffness of your strum and brightening up some of the mellower mids found in mango wonderfully... Kala have also spent a lot of time working on the headstock shape, creating the more rounded and instantly iconic looking 'horizon' design.

In my opinion, the biggest improvements on the classic Kala design is the feel of the neck which reminds me of Imuas, Ko'olaus and even some Japanese builders like Kiwaya and TkiTki, with an updated satin finish for a smooth, gliding feel that has come to be a staple with higher end instruments and if that wasn't enough a fresh set of Revelator strings, further bringing the best out of this fantastic ukulele.
