Kala have made a fantastic baritone ukulele from mango laminate. Do not be put off by the fact that this is a laminate ukulele! Laminates have their place and can be really handy.
If you are travelling from one climate zone to another, a laminate makes perfect sense. They are largely immune to changes in temperature and humidity, unlike solid wood instruments. The sound is very sweet, on the mellow side as most laminates can be, but balanced, with a decent volume.
