KoAloha have been very clever here. They have taken their designs for soprano, concert and tenor ukuleles, and had them made in Acacia in a very, very good factory in Thailand. The result? Astonishing value for money!
Most of the design features, the DNA if you will, that make KoAloha what they are are found here: the 5 pointed crown headstock, the slinky feeling neck, the Musubi soundhole shape, the clever internal unit-bracing, the attention to detail, and the sheer flamboyance of the sound. In fact, the sound is very, very similar to the Koa models that KoAloha are so famous for. The build quality is just as tight, and feel in the hand just as good.
This model has a 20 fret tenor neck joined to the body at the 15th fret, which allows the player the feel of a Tenor, but the sound of a concert. The sound is slightly richer than a standard concert owing to the extra scale length of the strings, so perhaps more suited to Low G than the standard concert.
This one arrived into stock in pretty good condition, but with one cosmetic issue on the back of the neck - a scratch that is visible, but we have polished it back so that you can barely feel it. There are literally no marks to the top, back or sides that I can see - so taking that scratch into account, it would still be a solid 9/10. Honestly, that is the only thing I can find!
