Here we have a wonderful AAAAA grade solid Koa concert uke, in showroom condition, with a fitted hard case. The original retail price was £1299. It has a few very small marks to the finish, nothing major at all - a good solid 9.5/10.
All Big Island acoustic ukes are half made in Hawaii: the wood is milled and prepared in Hawaii, then shipped to a specialist factory in Vietnam for assembly. The quality is excellent, definitely a step up from what you expect to find from most Chinese factories.
This absolute stunner boasts the highest possible grade of Koa, with figuring of the highest order. Curl, silking, flaming and grain all combine under the gloss to make a holographic feast for the eyes, with the depth in the Koa almost moving before your eyes.
But - just as importantly if not more so - the sound manages to keep pace with the looks. This uke makes such a pretty and sweet sound that more than justifies the price tag. If this had been put together in Hawaii as well as milled there, you'd be looking at a price tag of over £2k, with this spec.
