The Rebel Satin finish Double Cheese Soprano Ukulele in gigbag
The Rebel double cheese soprano ukulele has no binding or fancy cosmetic detail except for the geometric-esque fret dots. It has a solid spruce top with mahogany back and sides, and part of what makes this ukulele stand out is it's simplicity.
You are paying for a well finished ukulele made of good select woods with good hardware and one strum really brings that home. This soprano ukulele is loud and clear without being too ferocious like some spruce top ukes. This is the newer satin finish model, which has a warmer, more natural and open sound than the gloss models.
Phil and I fell madly in love with Rebel at the 2019 NAMM show and we were delighted to be able to share the Rebel experience with our colleagues and customers when opening the delivery for the first time. There isn't a bad or mediocre ukulele in the range - just well made ukes you will want to play every time you open the bag.
This wonderful soprano is just as you would like a spruce top ukulele to be; very loud when required and superbly responsive when you want to play quiet fingerpicking style. It never sounds harsh or sibillant as some spruce topped ukuleles can - it retains its fullness of sound, and sustain, all the way up the 17 frets without any kind of drop off. Very impressive!
Sure, the bag is a bit flamboyant and won't be to everyone's taste - but at least you'll always know where you put your Rebel!
