The Revelator Ukulele has galvanised Kala Ukuleles. A brand that has helped lay the foundation of quality and affordable ukuleles for 20 years have come back to life since the Revelator design came into their hands. When Pete Howlett designed the Revelator, he could not have known just how far it would take ukulele players the world over in the years that followed. The USA custom shop in Petaluma, California has continued Petes methods and evolved the design with tweaks and important changes based on player feedback; likewise, the more affordable Night Owl model made in China continues to be sold out for large parts of the year with its paired down conventional approach to the slimline build design but unmistakable rich tone and volume.

 

The missing piece of the puzzle for the longest time has been which Revelator those players in the middle would choose. If you are a performer or have the need to play an instrument with greater dynamic range and capabilities than the Night Owl; the new Horizon series of Revelators made in Java Indonesia are going to fill a serious hole in your heart for years to come.

 

Made by a small team of  Indonesian luthiers; the Horizon takes the blueprint from the USA custom shop Kala Revelators and  brings to the table a more affordable version accessible to more players. The Horizon is the first non-USA model to have the Nautilus soundhole, the body is a carved with the top laid on, the neck is slimmer and more precise with less of a pronounced outward curve as you play up the fretboard found on most factory made ukuleles. The woods are select pieces of high grade mango with a mahogany body.

The model features gold Grover Sta-Tite tuners and exquisite custom inlays. Adorning the ebony headplate is a Paua Abalone Nautilus, with an ebony fingerboard that showcases white pearl oval fret markers. 

With a slimline electro-acoustic body, the Revelator has all of the acoustic tone and volume of a full body ukulele. Its warm, articulate tone and dynamic pickups make it the perfect live companion for players of every style of music. Finally, the Horizon ukuleles come in an upgraded Transit series Revelator bag. This is the same bag that the USA custom shop instruments come with and it is excellent.
