At first glance this Kala KA-WF-AMHG-T Waterfall Series Tenor is just another all solid mahogany ukulele option amongst a fairly saturated genepool, however there are a handful of features that take this unassuming tenor ukulele and tailor it to a modern players style.

So, the basics. The WF-AMHG-T is built from delicious, chocolatey all solid mahogany, giving a full and rounded tone with that rich mahogany "darkness" that mellow strummers will adore. The very light satin finish reminds me of the mid generation KoAloha Opios, offering a silky smooth aesthetic but allowing that mahogany to shine through. Fingerstyle it doesn't leave as much to be desired as you might imagine though, dig in too much and you'll find some muddiness in there for sure, but with a little creamyness to the mids, this tenor lends really nicely to a softer players style.

Where the waterfall series stands out is defintely in the details. The squaring off of the "shoulders" gives it a more modern silhouette, which is also reflected in the newly imagined heel joint, which is also squared off and tweaked to have a lower profile, giving a touch more access to the upper frets, with the ever more essential 38mm nut leaving plenty of room in first position. I really love the mahogany fretboard inlays that wrap around as fret markers too, it's a feature we are seeing more and more in modernised instruments that encapsulates style and function in equal measure.
