Snail BHC-5BEQ MK2 Solid Spruce Top/Ebony Baritone Ukulele Slotted Headstock w/Gigbag

For a long time the only thing missing from Snail as a brand was a good selection of baritone models in the range. After the successful introduction of the BHC collection in 2017 however, Snail flooded their roster with a plethora of baritone variations shortly thereafter and goodness did they hit the ground running. The baritone’s, much like the concerts and tenors impressed back then, and continue to do so right up to the present day.

The BHC-5BEQ MK2 baritone ukulele is a direct descendant of the BHC-5B but of course features some modern upgrades and modifications. It still  comes with a solid spruce top and laminated figured ebony back and sides, capped with a slotted headstock, with some gorgeous heart shaped tuners that are unbranded but very sturdy. You get accurate machine heads, a clean and clinical looking gloss finish and a crisp, clear and dynamic sound.

We committed to the same re-string as the BHC-5B's, switching out the factory set for D'Addario Titanium baritone ukulele strings to really add the definition and smooth deep tones people have long associated with the baritone and solidifying a real game changer in the baritone ukulele world.

How the MK2 differs however is firstly the addition of the UK500T pickup system. Proven to be a solid, no nonsense electro set up through the entire elctro range offered by Snail it includes trebel, middle and bass controls with a built in tuner and LCD screen.

Snail also opted to size up the nut on the MK2 model from a 35mm to a 38mm width, adjusting to modern baritone trends, valuing comfort and space. The lightness, tightness of sound and smooth nature still remains and is the perfect example of how a baritone ukulele can be a deluxe Ukulele and not just a poor mans guitar. With their quirky name, Snail continually release fantastic ukuleles that punch well above their weight for their price range.
