The baritone is a bit unique in the ukulele family as it evolved out of New York and Boston rather than the sunny isles of Hawaii in the late 1940s. On the surface, the BK35 may seem understated but its the truest tribute you can buy right now to the original early Favilla Ukuleles. The shape is more reminiscent of a giant Concert Ukulele and the slightly shorter 19'' baritone scale makes for an easier playing experience for folks with smaller hands.
Ohana baritone ukuleles are also reminiscent of those early Favilla and Vega designs with the dark mahogany look matching the sound.
This is a high quality best in class all solid Mahogany baritone from Ohana. It is the satin finish twin sister of the gloss finish BK35G, and as such is the mellower and bassier of the two. It has a lovely earthy and open sound compared to the gloss models.
For years, this model has been the mainstay of our solid wood baritone ukuleles, with good reason. There is good design here - it is built nice and light so that you can get an impressive amount of volume, and the tone is extremely rich and luscious and lends itself particularly well to the bluesier/jazzier side of playing.
