Prodipe GL21 Lanen Condenser Microphone pickup for fretted instruments
The GL21 Lanen acoustic guitar and ukulele pickup has been designed for guitars, ukuleles, mandolins and banjos. The clever people at Prodipe have perfected an electret capsule that can take up to 140dB sound pressure. At that level of performance the capsule preserves the full harmonic envelope, which adds warmth to the sound of your instrument.
For the clamp, they chose to develop two sizes of clip, rather than one single adaptable clip. The first type is for guitars with a thick soundboard or internally strengthened near the sound hole. The second clip is smaller and curved in shape. The mic can be positioned on guitars or ukuleles whose soundboard ribs are near the sound hole towards the neck side.
As well as the simple mechanics of the thing, both clips are designed to keep your instrument safe from damage. Sound wise, it is phenomenal - you capture all the nuances of the wood of your instrument in a way that piezo and transducer pickups just cannot.
This unit needs phantom power to work, so you need to ensure that you have a DI box, mixer, PA or acoustic amplifier with phantom power on it. It comes with an XLR adaptor to enable you to plug it in appropriately, and a 5 foot long cable to ensure that it reaches!
