Lipson All Solid Coalbrookdale Yew English Style Tenor Ukulele #025 w/gigbag
Alex here;
Less than a year ago, I met Dan Lipson.
I Instantly I felt kinsmanhip for a man who had the same boundless energy and enthusiasm for musical instruments as my team and I. Dan is crazy in the best possible way and his rapid development and transition from guitar building to Ukulele building has been triumphant.
Pete Howlett has (and continues to be) such an important cog in Southern Ukulele Stores relationship and history with the Ukulele and our introductions to his final apprentices (Dan Lipson & John Story) last year have been a perfect new chapter in helping us shephard UK Ukulele luthiery, UK built Ukuleles and the British Ukulele world. It's going in the right direction in the years to come and Dan Lipson is for Southern Ukulele Store at the front and centre of that.
Dan asked me where we should next go from Pete's Hawaiian Style Tenor design and shape and I expressed a desire for the UK to have its own alternativem everyone loves Koa and the Ukulele world is held to the standard of the Hawaiian standard ukuleles by Kanile'a, KoAloha & Kamaka.
Enter Dan with the 'English Style Tenor'. A series of English made ukuleles made from our local indigenous English woods. If Hawaiian Koa is the voice of the pacific islands and the melting pot of those cultural influences and the sweet, harp like sound of Koa then these Ukuleles made from Bramley Apple, English Yew & other English woods encapsulate our deep, rich traditions too. A Ukulele that offers an alternative to the Hawaiian style Ukuleles and instead offers a slightly more broad shouldered, richer English folk tone.
This beautifully home brewed ukulele speaks for itself both visually and audibly. The deeply constrasting striping of this lovely tonewood tells tale of a tree grown gently at its own pace. For Yew to reach a diameter wide enough to be harvested for a soundboard like this the very minimum wait time is seventy years, and this patience is reflected both in the natural characteristics of the wood itself, and the skill required to finish a ukulele to such fine detail.
This listing of course shows the actual ukulele you will receive, shipped in a padded TGI extreme gigbag for safe keeping.
