When we consider L.Luthier, the first thing that comes to mind is precision engineering and the simple things done extremely well. Flawless finishes and fantastic attention to detail leads to the production of beautiful instruments that feel, look and most importantly sound amazing.

The subtlety in branding and embellishments is almost central to the identity of L.Luthier's existing models, for example the small notch taken from the headstock as a feature could be missed, but once noticed becomes a signature that can really be appreciated. Or the geometric bird inlays that are clean, and almost calming in nature as a design feature.

Off the back of this fantastic foundation, L.Luthier brought us the Sand and Le Sand models in early 2025. Now as spring, well springs, it makes total sense that L.Luthier would introduce the Ocean into the mix. Initially a very limited run, the Ocean and Le Ocean models feature a stunningly stained flamed maple body with complimenting neck and headstock finishes. The bright and bubbly maple reflects the gorgeous stain itself with snappy highs, tight mids and smooth low register tones for a well rounded, joyful song offered by this standout uke.

The Ocean tenor ukulele with the conventional soundhole features lattice bracing. Lattice bracing is a type of internal structure used in the construction of the soundboard of a classical guitar. Unlike traditional fan bracing, lattice bracing employs a geometric grid or “lattice” of interlocking braces that provide support and flexibility to the soundboard. It typically increases volume of an instrument and in the case of the L.Luthiers; it also reduces the overall weight distribution of the ukulele.

Framed with stunning abalone binding and feature upgraded Gotoh tuners with white ivoroid buttons, the Ocean has a notably improved spec to the base L.Luthier models. The personal ever important soundport projects nicely back for a more connecting experience when playing the Ocean, and the extremely capable pickup system as found across the entire L.Luthier roster is of course fitted to the Ocean. With any piezo/mic blend system, you will find that mixing in too much of the mic can lead to distortion, but mix in around 1/3 and it adds a depth and realism to your sound which is just gorgeous.
