For years we have said that the KoAloha's had sustain, tone and looks to die for... and we rightfully called them one of the best tenors available.
The KoAloha KTM-00 has all the brightness you expect from koa, bags of volume and sustain owing to the fabulous proprietary unit brace system that the clever people at KoAloha use. It feels very light in the hand, very balanced. What you notice most when you play is the clarity of its voice. It has great note separation and a huge expressive range.
The big changes at KoAloha post COVID saw a redesign of the body and bridge positioning; moving the neck join from the 15th to the 14th fret. They also made the waist of the Tenor KTMs more pronounced and rounded out the bottom bout out. These changes have tightened and focused the sound without dampening any of the exuberant character of the uke, and made for a more balance and refined Ukulele.
Bear in mind that no grain filler is used on these ukes, which helps to keep the instrument sounding as good as it does. But, it can mean that you can find a few small pits in the finish, where the gloss sinks into pores, features or grain in the wood. Some very, very fine scratches in the gloss are visible under close inspection, owing to the polishing techniques used in the finishing process.
