It feels like we have entered yet another new era with the introduction of an all mango range from Kanile'a. A huge move for a manufacturer who have built their foundation upon fine Hawaiian Koa, but one that has seriously impressed.

Firstly let's address the obvious, that stunning curly mango! It was important that Kanile'a introduced this new drop with some shock and awe, utilising both visually impactful, but more importantly vibrationally impressive tonewood. The curly mango they have selected is nothing short of breathtaking, with the warm, balanced tone and bright articulation that only fine mango can deliver. As for visual presence, the images speak for themselves, wow!

This K-1 M B Pro baritone ukulele model features a time-consuming top thinning process known as TRU Reduction. This enables the top to vibrate more freely and respond better whilst also making the instrument noticeably lighter in your hands. The Pro models also feature a side sound port so the player hears the true sound of the instrument. Finally, the Pro series ukuleles have an upgrade nut and saddle to black TUSQ; a synthetic material that Kanile'a have previously only offered on custom shop models.

Truthfully, we are always really impressed with the K1 Kanile'a baritone ukuleles. Alex has proclaimed Kanile'a many times the best baritone ukulele builders in the world. It's a premium priced ukulele but if you want the purest and most lyrical baritone uke; Kanile'a just don't disappoint. Their instruments have incredible finishes, really second to none, and they possess incredible poise, both physically and sonically. They feel so light in the hand, thanks to very clever bracing and beautifully refined, high quality thin wood being used.

Everything on the bodies is designed to maximise vibrations - in addition to the top thinning process; the TRU-R structured bracing Kanile'a use (and other people try to copy) allows the top to ring for longer, the internal binding top the top and back is as minimal as possible without compromising structural integrity, and the wood is very carefully selected for the correct grain properties which allows the soundwaves to be created. And everything is put together by master craftsmen, who love what they do, and this shows.

All this attention to detail results in a huge but crystal clear and balanced sound, endless sustain and very pretty and complex harmonics in the sound. You really can do everything on a Kanile'a!

All Kanile'a models come with Kanile'a's patented TRU-R bracing. The Pro series come with a fast curing UV gloss finish on the body and a satin finish on the mahogany neck. The TRU-R bracing pattern allows even less contact between the braces and top allowing for a truer vibration and a noticeable increase in sustain on all models. Finally, Kanile'a K-1 models will come with an updated ebony headstock faceplate and white pearl inlays.
