Get a load of this stunning new Kala 5 string tenor ukulele, made with a solid cedar top and acacia back and sides.

The Kala KA-ATP-CTG has long been the benchmark other brands have worked against when designing the perfect affordable ukulele. The combination of cedar and acacia is not revolutionary so much as it is an evolutionary chapter in the history of the ukulele. If you want a confident sound suitable for complex noodling, fingerpicking, classical or just a good loud strummer; Kala have had this model up their arsenal.

Kala are one of those brands that really make the effort needed to stop their ukuleles getting a bit samey or boring. The modern incarnation (known as the KA-SCAC-T for the 4 string and KA-SCAC-T5 for the 5 string) has some cosmetic and functional improvements... The first being the darker, more professional look that comes with removing the red padauk binding and using a dark rosewood instead. The headstock has been thinned out slightly and has different open geared black metal tuners. It all sounds a bit emperors new clothes but once you try one for yourself, you will wish all your ukuleles had these tuners!

Finally, Kala have changed the neck and headstock to satin but kept the body as a high gloss so you get the feel of a lived instrument and the sound and brightness of a spangly bright new one at the same time. If you are wondering how a 5 string works; its exactly the same as your normal ukulele except with an extra G string so you have a low and a high G working side by side. You do not need to alter your chord shapes... It works exactly as a 4 string would but with some added flavour.
