I think you'll agree that the koa is exceptional on this Big Island Honu soprano ukulele. It has a beautiful, almost holographic grain that we love to see in koa, and the gloss really heightens the effect and makes it pop. The Honu (turtle) headstock and bridge just add so much to the exotic look of this beautiful uke.

The sound is powerful and sounds very Kanile'a like with the Aquila super nylgut strings although a set of fluorocarbons or a clear nylon would really ramp this bad boy into 5th gear. The perfect uke for someone truly appreciative of the nice clarity and warmth that you can get from good koa, and who wants to save hundreds of pounds on the price of an equivalently specced model which is made on Hawaii.

In the hand you notice just how ergonomically designed the neck is, really slim profile, and easy to play for easy fretting of even the most troublesome Eb minor 9th. These deluxe range ukes from Big Island really take the biscuits, and truly out perform their price bracket.
