Get your hands on this fantastic Millar concert ukulele made with stunning solid cypress and rosewood. We think the Millar TK-240W is an absolute breath of fresh air! I'm now wondering where these concert ukuleles have been all my life...
This concert Millar ukulele is built in Taiwan in a budding, family run workshop of builders. They're doing absolute wonders for the ukulele world and really pushing the limits of what quality you can expect from this price point. They feel and look very similar to
Pono, Big Island and Imua ukuleles which is a big compliment! You really notice a step up in both the wood chosen and clean attention to detail from other concert ukuleles in the price category. This Millar ukulele sits very comfortably as an affordable alternative to the Rebels and Opios of this world. Yellow Cypress is a Taiwanese sibling to the more common Cedar tonewood... Cypress has practically an identical tone to Cedar wood but a slightly wavier looking grain pattern. The jury is out on whether here in the west we should describe this wood as Cedar or Cypress so forgive us for using both terms in these listings.
The TK-240W brings the warm, responsive and seasoned sound of cypress (a derivative of Cedar) whilst the rosewood adds some gravitas and volume to the overall sound. It's a real treat for a fingerpicking style with a more touch sensitive response to your touch and an almost classical guitar tonality. If you were to strum the sound is quick and clean off of the fingerboard with just a touch of bite and saturation. This ukulele also helps you stand out at the forefront of the mix when playing in a group too.
The rope binding and curly maple trim are absolutely stunning. It really stands out against the fiery colour palette of the cypress top and the deep richer rosewood. Pictures show the actual ukulele.
