As I write this, It's October and we have waited most of the year for this model to materialise after trying an incredibly attractive sample at the NAMM show way back in January. Kala always made excellent solid spruce and cedar top Ukuleles and as the needs and wants of Ukulele players develops; Kala are putting their best foot forward by introducing more variations of their most popular range.
The KA-SSEM-C has a solid spruce top with some very elegant looking exotic mahogany back and sides and with the striped Ebony fingerboard I must say, it feels like a step up in quality from the Kala models currently out there. It has a great punchy sound that can be adapted to most styles of music with ease and it's traditional double herringbone binding, rosette and the unique grain patterns produced by the exotic mahogany back and sides make for a very polished and accomplished instrument.
