Details

Kiwaya Ukuleles are built as light as possible for tone and projection, and modelled on the vintage Martin models. The craftsmen in Japan pay close attention to details such as intonation, action, playability and cosmetic appearance. The result is extraordinary - these vintage vibed beauties sing with a volume and clarity that is astonishing, but with that lovely warmth of Mahogany. The addition of clear fluorocarbon strings and Ebony fingerboard and bridge to this Ukulele has noticeably pepped up the overall sound. Many people would replace the darker nylon factory strings on Kiwaya's in an effort to brighten up the Uke and increase the volume and that is no longer necessary.
If you prefer the vintage more subtle Martin tone then you may want to seek out some Fremont Blackline strings.

This is the extended 17 fret concert model - if you want a standard concert size then look at the KTC-1, which has 12.
