Millar Custom CM-J All Solid Cedar and Spalted Maple Jumbo Tenor Ukulele (38mm Nut)

There is a funny story here... This Millar custom jumbo tenor ukulele shouldn't exist but we are so glad it does! We have been working with Millar on a pair of custom shop ukuleles to Phil and Gunsy from the shops own specs. The idea being that the regular customers both of these guys have at the shop could see what favourite wood/style combinations were available and be inspired.

Unfortunately, things got a bit jumbled up this first time round. The Phil and Guns' models 'cross pollinated' with Matt at World of Ukes own custom models. The results are some interesting wood combinations on ukuleles creating some really wonderful specifications, tonewoods and even wider nut widths but at a slightly more affordable price and are true one offs themselves!

This special tenor ukulele model is the CM-J- A solid cedar top with solid spalted maple back and sides. It has Millar's first ever 38mm nut width with a slightly chunkier neck profile to match, a slotted headstock, a satin finish (creating a more open sound) and a rosewood fingerboard and bridge. At the time of listing, this is the only one of these ever to go on sale with the other one produced having been purchased by one of the staff here at SUS, we were that impressed with it.

It sounds loud but complex and mellow like all good Millar ukes should and would lend itself very well to a performer or someone wanting good single note balance for fingerpicking. It also sounds staggeringly good in low G. The purple padauk binding is also a lovely touch giving the cedar and spalted maple some aesthetically pleasing separation.

It wasn't quite what we were expecting but we are by no means disappointed!
