Honestly, this plays and sounds as good as it looks. There is something so extraordinary about a soprano uke that has such a delicate, warm and bubbly sound as this. It is completely effortless to play, requiring the lightest of touches to bring forth such a sweet, pretty sound which rings like the harp at the end of your wildest dreams. It will reward any style of playing with a suitable response - for instance, fingerpicking manages to sound both crystal clear with a real tang on harder plucked treble notes, and lustrous with a warm bass response in the lower reaches, with a perfect balance between the two. Strummed chords at any volume are absolutely clean, each note sounding individually and very strongly with no muddiness, and with an astonishingly, heart achingly pretty pattern of harmonics. The TS-3K offers even more figuring in the wood and a gorgeous traditional looking Ivoroid binding.
The neck sits just right in the hand - it has a slender profile but a wider than average 36mm nut width, so a little extra space to get your fingers in the right shapes. You can play all the way up the neck with class leading intonation, no dead spots and sustain right until the highest frets. And the body is featherweight light, very comfortable to hold, and extremely well built. The best Hawaiian materials and the best Japanese luthiery skills meet here in the most spectacular way. You may infer from this write up that I am a fan: you'd be right. I assure any potential purchaser that I have never come across such a perfectly formed, perfect sounding soprano instrument which rewards the player quite as much as this one, and that satisfaction and beyond is guaranteed! A serious competitor to the Big K brands, well worth considering if you are after an heirloom quality instrument.
