The Rebel ukulele sopranos sound and feel brilliant. These ukuleles are very modern feeling and looking in a way that reminds us of the aNueNue's. They also have a touch of Imua/Kiwaya/Takumi's traditional, thinner body stylings but with a nice slick feeling neck. We shouldn't be surprised how good these soprano ukuleles are given that Rebel are the manufacturers of KoAloha's Opio line - truly these ukes seem to take some of the popular stylings of other brands and put them together to make something new and extremely exciting.

Listings show the actual ukulele.

The Rebel Cheese Cake soprano ukulele has a beautiful, rather insistent sound that cuts through more than most without being over powered or too full of itself. All of the Rebel sopranos we have tried have quite smooth highs and a nice responsive bass when you hit the open C string. The first time I opened the gigbag to try this uke, I actually found myself playing open chords like C and F and just listening for several seconds as the note rang out to its conclusion.

It is extremely rare for a new ukulele soprano to have such a refined sound and this uke successfully handles a confident strum without any sibilant undertones. In many ways it actually sounds much more like a Concert and if you close your eyes or look away when it is being played; you could be forgiven for thinking that you are hearing koa, such is the confidence of this little champion.

Certainly, right now you would be hard pressed to find something that could outclass The Rebel or KoAloha Opio ukuleles at the same price. The spruce and mahogany might be a little bit on the plainer looking side of things but they are not to be underestimated - just gorgeous!

Phil and I fell madly in love with Rebel at the 2019 NAMM show and we were delighted to be able to share the Rebel experience with our colleagues and customers when opening the delivery for the first time. There isn't a bad or mediocre ukulele in the range - just well made ukes you will want to play every time you open the bag.

Sure, the bag is a bit flamboyant and won't be to everyone's taste - but at least you'll always know where you put your Rebel!
