The KCM-00 solid koa Concert has been a benchmark for Hawaiian concerts since we started stocking them over a decade ago. They are just so vibrant, and resonant, owing in no small part to the very clever unit bracing that KoAloha employ. Other koa concerts are world class but it's incredibly difficult to overlook the KCM-00 on any list of the worlds best ukuleles.

So, after 25 years of making the world a better place, KoAloha have released their silver 25th anniversary series of instruments. They have taken an already excellent instrument and added a few twists and tweaks to make a really desirable heirloom instrument, which will hold value a well as get better and better sounding with playing. And there is only a small increment in price as well, so still very affordable for what it is. And, they have serial numbered stickers in the soundhole, which is quite important as they will only be making 300 or so silver series concerts and each shop will only receive a limited amount.

The ebony fixtures and fittings give this KoAloha concert ukulele a very classy look, and give it an almost slivery hue when the light strikes it in a certain way. The tuners have been upgraded to a brushed steel effect closed back Der-Jung tuner with a KoAloha logo which can normally only be found on the elite black label KoAloha ukuleles at 4-5 times the price of a KCM model. The choice of geared machine heads is very much down to Paul and Alan Okami, the sons and heirs of Pops Okami, who have taken the lead in developing the silver series.

The most important thing though is that KoAloha sound, which is present in spades; all of the bombast, warmth and liveliness that you have come to expect from a KoAloha is here, wrapped up in a very special package.

This stunner is finished with a High Gloss finish on an open pore body. No grain filler is used, which helps massively to make this concert uke sound quite as magnificent as it does, but it can mean that some small pits and marks in the finish are inevitable where the gloss has sunk into features and grain in the wood.

Pictures show actual instrument you will receive. This one was traded in against a Tenor ukulele - the original customer did not get along with the concert scale. We fitted it with a MiSi pickup as part of the original order. When it was traded in, the bridge had started to lift from the top, so we removed the bridge and reglued it, so it is very good and secure and better than new, in that respect!

There are very few dings and dents to be found - some very small marks to the headstock, and some light marks to the gloss just around the bridge where the bridge regluing was done, and small mark on the back, so overall a solid 8/10 cosmetically. Tonally, a solid 12/10 :-)

This is an early serial number (#017) example of a very collectible ukulele, which will only accrue value over the years.

Please note that all used ukuleles are only for sale to UK based customers.
