It's always wonderful when beautiful Hawaiian made instruments arrive here and this Ko'olau tenor ukulele has made our day!

Like the other K brands, this Ko'olau tenor ukulele has a definite magic all its very own. The sound is luscious and complex - the satin finish leaves the sound very open and uncompressed, with lots of sustain and impressive volume. All the way up the neck it has a consistency and presence that is reminiscent of only the very best instruments that pass through our hands. Truly, a stunning and extremely capable instrument!

Experience of high quality precision made ukes tells me that the sound is likely to open up nicely with playing over the next few years, so if it sounds this nice now, it'll sound utterly wonderful down the line.

Pheasant wood is a new one on me. I am so glad that there are still lovely surprises like this that pop up every now and then. It looks like a tight grained, variegated rosewood, or perhaps a bit like the engineered rosewood effect composite woods that are being used by some brands these days. As you can see, it looks understated, but with stunning detail and character under close inspection.
