USED Kala Elite Koa 1 Soprano Ukulele All Solid Koa in hardcase

Here we have a lovely little Kala Elite soprano ukulele in solid Koa with a satin finish, in really good nick. It has only the lightest of playwear on it, sounds lovely, and has lots of life left to live.

The Elite series is manufactured by an experienced team of Ukulele builders and enthusiasts in Petaluma, California which is a surprise because it is clear upon beholding and playing these for the first time that these Ukuleles take less of their inspiration from fellow Californian companies Taylor and Fender and much more from the premium Hawaiian brands Kanile'a and Kamaka. The nod towards the Hawaiian building style, sound, look, feel and even smell is apparent (Give Koa a sniff sometime if that last sentence seemed strange).

Like all the other expensive K brands, this Soprano Elite has a very lightweight body, which makes the neck seem proportionally quite heavy. This light but rigid body is the key to getting such a nice, rich and loud sound from a tiny soprano body.

Like most sopranos, the intonation is not perfect, but it is very good; a tiny bit flat on the A string whilst all the other strings are OK at the 12th fret. At such small scale lengths it is rare to find a ukulele with perfect intonation and this one is as good in that regard as similarly priced models.

So, if you are in the market for a decent Soprano, this one may well convince you of its charms!
