Clever little ukulele for the money! The laminate woods are put under tension in the arched back and top, which helps to wring the last bit of volume and projection from the body of the instrument, ensuring that the player gets maximum bang for bucks. Bear in mind that a carved solid arched top arched instrument would set you back hundreds of pounds more.

As it is a laminate, it will always sound on the mellow side, but with the Aquila strings to pep it up a little it makes a very satisfying sweet sound, with good balance between the bass and treble, but with a sound that lends itself (along with its looks!) to the jazzier/bluesier side of playing.

And you will look very cool playing it!
