Bubbly, luscious, playful but warm are the best words to summarily describe the KoAloha KCM-10RP Royal Pikake concert uke. KoAloha concert ukuleles are renowned for a clarity and openness to their sound that surpasses any of the other Hawaiian Koa concerts.

These Pikakes have such vitality and wonderful expressive range, just like their glossy sisters the KCM-00, but with a slightly deeper, woodier, mellower and more refined edge to the tone. The satin finish allows more warmth to show in the sound, at the same time making it feel more open and natural sounding. Modern Royal Pikake instruments (2022 onwards) feature a more high end Ebony faceplate with Abalone inlay, a KoAloha hard case and geared closed back tuners in place of the traditional friction type that many people found hard to use.

KoAloha use no grain filler before applying the satin finish. This allows the instrument to sound as amazing as it does, but it does mean that you have to expect small cosmetic anomalies and flaws, where features and grain in the wood show through the finish.
