Hi there, Just a short sharp blog today about a new set of ukulele strings we are offering. For a couple of years we have had a reoccurring enquiry from our customers that they are not able to get a set of GCEA baritone strings with a low G. Up until recently we have had a little bit of a 'life hack' method of fixing this problem. The solution we found that worked was to use a set of Aquila 23U Baritone GCEA strings and then recycle the G (3rd) string off of your current Baritone DGBE set. The gauge is absolutely perfect for Low G because it is already a Low G. Does that make sense? Probably not, it is very difficult to even write without tripping over your words and feeling like you need a stiff drink. So, in the spirit of making life easier for the customer we measured the gauge of single strings from Baritone sets and trailed half a dozen different gauges to find one that works. The result of this is the first custom set of strings we offer here at SUS. A 23U set of Aquila Strings with an additional D'addario Silverplated wound low G. I called it the very imaginatively titled 23U2 set. If you want the single string by itself to convert an existing set we sell that too. da_prod_EJ33_main_2 Finally, I also spent a bit of time experimenting with Tenor scale Low G's and the different materials you can use when doing this. By far the most exciting string was a Folk Nylon bronze wound string from D'Addario Strings very cool Guitalele/folk guitar set. We sell this individually on the website too and it can be an excellent low G string on pretty much any and every size ukulele. If you have a really annoying, fiddly and seemingly impossible query with ukulele strings or something along those lines please get in touch with me at the shop on 01202 430820 and I will do my very best to get to the bottom of it.
