Thank you for visiting our website. These terms and conditions are designed to promote understanding between us and our customers, and to protect the rights of each party. 1. Purchasing from the Southern Ukulele Store website
Occasionally items ordered through the website are out of stock, or the specifications have been changed by the manufacturers. In each instance, we will contact you to let you know before shipping your order. We will make a full refund if any alternatives we propose do not meet with your satisfaction. We are only obliged to fulfil any order once payment has been received in full. Ownership of the goods only transfers once payment is received and delivery has been made.
All instruments are checked as they arrive into stock, and we do send back an awful lot of duds to our suppliers. Each instrument is checked again, tuned, played and set up if necessary before dispatch to ensure that it reaches you in tip top condition.
2. Distance Selling regulations
Any order placed on our website may be cancelled within 7 days of the order being delivered. The returns procedure as outlined below must be observed. Should you change your mind about an order, for whatever reason, we will refund you for the product alone once we have received it in its original condition. Your original postage costs and return postage costs will not be reimbursed. If there is a proven fault with a product, then we will refund you the product costs, the original postage and the return postage costs. We reserve the right to refuse refunds if the goods are not received in unused and saleable condition. If any goods returned to us without a fault under the Distance Selling Regulations show signs of use (effectively making the instrument second hand), no matter how small, a 25% restocking fee will be applied. No returns can be accepted on software, audio or video recordings unless the security seal is intact, unless the product is proven to be faulty.
You are responsible for checking the product on delivery to ensure that no transport damage has occurred and that the product is not defective in any way. Please report any courier damage or missing items within 24 hours. We are not obliged to accept returns on unwanted or incompatible goods unless we are notified under the distance selling regulations as outlined above.
3. Returns Procedure
Notification of an intended return must be received by telephone or email. We will respond to you and acknowledge the return, and give you any specific instructions relating to the situation. You are responsible for the safe return of any item to us. We are not liable in any way for items that have been sent by you for return to us which do not arrive safely at our premises. Should this occur we will be unable to offer a refund and you will reclaim the full amount from the carrier. All items returned to us must be accompanied by a copy of the original paperwork sent with the instrument and a covering note, including your full contact details. All accessories shipped with a product (cables, manuals etc) must be included with it in the original packaging.
4. Damaged or Defective goods
Items purchased by customers must be used only for their intended purpose. If upon inspection any item is found to have been used inappropriately and no manufacturing fault is discovered, we will return the item to you and charge you 25% of the selling price to cover expenses incurred in testing the product plus the return postage costs. Any product found to have failed under normal usage will be repaired or replaced at our discretion. Items under manufacturers warranty may be returned to the manufacturers for specialist repairs. Please report any damaged or defective items within 24 hours of receiving the delivery. We operate a "return to base" warranty, so for items which fail during the warranty period, but which arrived in good condition, you would be responsible for the cost of returning the goods to us.
Second hand and ex demo goods are covered by a 3 month warranty period, whilst new items are covered by a one year warranty. Consumable items such as strings are not covered by any warranty. To confirm the warranty period on any product please contact a member of our staff directly.
5. Payment and Security
All attempts are made to keep details of your order and payment secure. We use only the most secure servers and payment service providers. Unless it is proved that we have been negligent we cannot be help liable for any losses sustained by you as a result of unauthorised access to your data. None of your personal card data is held on file by us after your order is fulfilled.
All prices displayed and payments accepted are in Pounds Sterling only.
Mainland UK Delivery

Smaller items, accessories and cheaper soprano ukuleles are sent by Royal Mail, whereas larger items and more expensive ukuleles are sent by 24 hour DPD Predict within Mainland UK. For all courier parcels, you will be emailed or texted with the tracking information at the point of dispatch, and you will have a direct link to DPD, who will inform you of the delivery time in advance, and who can adjust the delivery time to suit you.
Delivery charges for Europe are £2 by Royal Mail for small accessories, £12.50 by Royal Mail for larger accessories and small ukuleles, and £24.50 by courier for bulkier items such as larger ukuleles and ukulele cases. Delivery typically takes 3-7 working days depending on location. Tracking information will be emailed when the item is dispatched.
UK Highlands and Islands
Delivery charges for UK Highlands and Islands are £1 for small accessories, £3.50 by Royal Mail for larger accessories and small ukuleles, and £9.99 by Courier or Royal Mail (depending on exact location) for bulkier items such as larger ukuleles and ukulele cases.

This website currently provides shipping options only to the UK, UK Highlands and Islands and the EU. If you are outside of these zones, please contact us for a quote for shipping. We can send packages almost anywhere, but we need to quote individually for each parcel as the rates vary dramatically.
If an item has been sent by Royal Mail, we are unable to claim an item as missing until 21 days after the date of dispatch. Normally items will arrive within 5 days of dispatch but can take longer. We cannot be held liable for items that take slightly longer than the expected time. We will always have a dated proof of dispatch. Contact us to discuss guaranteed methods of delivery should your goods be required by a certain date.
Cyprus, Malta, The Canary Islands, Balearic Islands and countries outside the EU within Europe will incur additional shipping charges. Please contact us in advance of your purchase to find out the additional postage amount. Failing this we will contact you after purchase to make you aware of the difference which needs to be paid.
We will not be liable to you for any claims which arise out of the supply of our products to you unless we are negligent but we will not be liable in any event for any consequential loss, except where this is required by law. We hereby exclude the application of the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 to each and every contract made under these Terms. These Terms cannot be altered or suspended, permanently or temporarily, without the written permission of a Director of Music is Life Instrument Retail Ltd. These conditions are subject to English law and the jurisdiction of the English courts.
